You might remember Peanut, my sun conure, from previous posts and he did make a teeny appearance in my 51 things video (Thanks to everyone who watched it and made such nice comments!) Well, he is a special bird, so I made a little watercolor drawing of him so I could use him for a bookmark!
The main body of the bookmark is just a piece of colorful printed cardstock joined with a bit of strong glue.I think Peanut is much cuter in real life, though. Happy Thursday!
ALSO! I need your suggestions and/or requests. Do any of you have ideas on techniques or skillz you'd like me to explain and demonstrate in a how-to video? Pretty please let me know! Thanks, friends!

Love the bookmarks! He's a cute little bird.
I'd really like to know how you get such bright vibrant colors, especially in backgrounds. I've messed with watercolors, but can't get the same results I see all over the web. Another blog posted recently about using acrylic and baby wipes to paint and blend, but I'd really like to know how you do it.

I think it has a lot to do with how much pigment you stir up when you're loading your brush with paint. If I'm using my pans or a dried up piece of tube watercolor, I like to put a little water on the paint a minute or so beforehand to soften up the paint and make it easier to mix in a lot of pigment. It could also be the quality of watercolors you're using.
I noticed Peanut's appearance in your video :). I actually did a bit of a double take because I couldn't tell if he was a real creature or a craft supply!!
This bookmark is adorable! Almost as cute as the real thing.
Beautiful... and coming from one who is terrified of birds that is saying a lot!
I agree with Megan! I'd love to see more details around your watercolor techniques.
Love him!!
