Oops, I Craft My Pants? more like "Oops, I became a victim of happenstance!"

Hey everybody, I've recently gotten some angry comments regarding the originality of the web address "oopsicraftmypants." I just wanted to address it real quick. Considering the popularity of the hilarious SNL sketch "Oops, I Crapped My Pants", and the awesomeness of crafting hobbies, it's not surprising that others have made the connection before. The phrase "oops I craft my pants" personally occurred to me while my family and I were in the car on our way to watch Avatar around Christmas. We were brainstorming blog name ideas to come up with something easier to say and remember than "i-crafted-this-today dot blogspot dot com" (a mouthful, right?) When my bro checked to see if the URL was available, it was, and I thought "Score!" and went for it.

Unbeknownst to me, at the time I made these recent changes, there was a wonderful craft blog already existing at http://www.oopsicraftmypants.net. I had never heard of this blog before today, and never intended to copy or steal anyone's idea. I encourage all my readers to visit oopsicraftmypants.net, as it is run by a very talented and creative crafter. I wish her the very best and every success.

I won't be changing my web address, as I believe the internet is big enough for the two of us and our own unique styles will be enough to differentiate. As always, thank you all for reading! I hope you know I appreciate all your support and positivity.

Yours truly,

Kira

I cannot believe how rude her readers are! Its s simple mistake... I mean, this world is HUGE. Nothing is really original anymore. I know how it is, you try to come up with something really unique, different, and that fits YOU! Like, the other day I was trying to come up with something clever for esty and came up with embroiderME ('cause I embroider, my name starts with "ME", and its catchy), but, of course, its taken... and I've had that happen with other things. Thats just how it is.

Personally, I liked "I crafted this today", because that is what you do.. you craft something every day, and that is so cool. But, I can see where "opps I craft my pants" is more catchy.

GOOD FOR YOU!! You handled the situation with class!

I know I already told you all of this, but I want to tell you again so everybody knows it- you really are amazing! You are handling this situation with so much poise and grace- true class all the way. As I mentioned, you are very dignified, and far more mature than the others involved in this. Some of the comments are shameless. There is no need to say such mean comments, whatsoever. People just say those things to feel important and cover up their own insecurities. They are the ones who are blowing this whole thing out of proportion.

Like you said, the internet is big enough to share a name and the very idea that she was the first and only person to think up that name, is preposterous. I am glad that you are standing your ground and keeping it the same. And really, I doubt it causes trouble for either or you.

You are an original artist with a truly defined and characterized style. You have such originality and creativity in your work and above all else, you have achieved your own recognizable flair- something many artists strive for but never accomplish. You are there! I can always recognize your art instantly when you post it on craftster. It is so unique and well-done!

So just remember, we all love you and we will always be here for you! You are dignified and mature and so very talented! Be proud that you are not only extremely brilliant but you are also a great person with true class indeed!

Positivity will rule. Don't let the haters get you down. Your blog is wonderful and your crafts are super unique and don't let anyone rain on your sweet craft parade. If someday oopsicraftmypants.com expires and you have to buy oopsicraftmypants.biz instead, I'll still go there :)

Love you. You rock.

I knew it had to do with the SNL skit, but I'm sorry that the other readers aren't being so kind! <3 you!

I second what everyone else said! I can't believe people would be so inconsiderate in their comments. You definitely handled the situation gracefully. You're a wonderful artist with a definite unique flair, and your blog's a lot of fun! Don't let anyone tell you different.
