Hooty Hoo. Owl Illustration

I painted/drew this little owl illustration on a card for my good friend who has been feeling kinda down lately. I just sent it out in the mail today, and chances are she won't read this blog before she gets it. (But if you do, sorry for ruining the surprise).

I used frisket to mask the owl part, then painted the background with watercolors. Once it was all dry, I removed the frisket and drew the owl details with my favorite pen of the moment, a Papermate Flair felt-tipped pen. It's delightful, like a tiny marker.

Here's the (kinda) full notecard unfolded. This is also before I stamped the words "hooty hoo" with my trusty alpha-set and white colorbox inkpad.
